Netflix app can no longer be installed on rooted devices from the Play Store

The Netflix app for Android can no longer be installed on rooted devices from the Play Store.

Starting with version 5.0, those with a rooted Android device will have to find other ways to get the Netflix app. Those who already have the app installed on their rooted devices will be able to continue using it for the time being.

According to Netflix, the new app uses Widevine DRM by Google and only works on devices certified by Google and not modified in anyway. That doesn̢۪t really explain how the app still works when sideloaded on rooted devices.

Netflix recently released version 5.0 on the Play Store. One of the main additions in this update is the presence of HDR and Dolby Vision, which is only supported on the LG G6 for now.
